Multi-Kulti BAM Spring Festival
As part of the cultural programme of BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano, a project by Fondazione Riccardo Catella, the Multi-Kulti BAM Spring Festival inaugurated spring on Sunday, 29 March with a great day of celebration dedicated to dance as a universal language, capable of fostering connection, encounter and dialogue between different cultures.
The event renewed BAM’s participation in Refugee Week, involving important organisations committed to solidarity and welcome, including UNHCR Italia – the UN Refugee Agency, which granted its patronage to the initiative, together with Amnesty International Italia, Caritas Ambrosiana, CIQ – Centro Internazionale di Quartiere, Italian Red Cross – Milan Committee, INTERSOS – Humanitarian Organization, Milano Welcome Center and the SAI – Reception and Integration System of the Municipality of Milan. Together, these organisations strengthened the social and cultural value of the day through their contribution.
The event marked the first appointment of BAM’s new cultural programme, entitled (Dis)Connections, conceived and curated by Francesca Colombo, General Cultural Manager of BAM. The day offered a rich journey through performances, workshops and masterclasses, culminating in the original performance Patience, the result of the first artistic residency promoted by BAM in collaboration with MILANoLTRE Festival. The performance featured 70 young dancers from DanceHaus in an original collective creation led by Lebanese choreographer Charlie Khalil Prince.
Supporting the entire cultural programme and the park’s activities were also the BAM Park Ambassadors Volvo Cars Italia and Howden. The Multi-Kulti BAM Spring Festival was also made possible thanks to the contribution of the Directorate-General for Performing Arts of the Ministry of Culture and UniCredit.
The success of the initiative was also made possible thanks to the collaboration of numerous institutions and cultural organisations, including ALDES, Associazione Karamogo, Centro Coreografico Nazionale / Aterballetto, DanceHaus – Accademia Susanna Beltrami, Eurasia Dance Project International Network and MILANoLTRE Festival, which helped make the day a moment of intense artistic and cultural participation.
