PRESENTATION OF BAM CULTURAL PROGRAM 2024

Today, the press conference for the launch of BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano‘s 2024 cultural program took place.

Fondazione Riccardo Catella presented this year’s rich cultural program, featuring over 300 cultural events characterized by the combination of urban regeneration and cultural activation to stimulate participation, inclusion, and a sense of community.

As stated by Francesca Colombo, Cultural General Director of BAM, Fondazione Riccardo Catella, the season will be inaugurated on Sunday, March 24th, with the opening of the Mandala Lab @BAM, an international project in collaboration with the Rubin Museum of Art.

The inauguration of the Mandala Lab @BAM will coincide with the Spring Festival – the first of the four BAM Season Days – dedicated to exploring emotions through the language of dance.

“Year after year, in this urban park increasingly loved and frequented by citizens and visitors, we witness the growth and affirmation of a successful project: having managed to combine themes such as environmental protection, culture, education, play, and scientific research. BAM is today not just a park but a pulsating heart of the city and the neighborhood. The Biblioteca degli Alberi model, where biodiversity, the richness of natural species, and the multiplicity of uses (recreational, educational, leisure) of equipped areas are fundamental tools for spreading the culture of sustainability at an urban level, makes us increasingly convinced of the effectiveness of the collaboration carried out so far, which will see further developments and new projects to share in the coming months.”

Elena Eva Maria Grandi, Councilor for Environment and Green, Municipality of Milan

“The 2024 BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano proposes a calendar of events and initiatives that confirm the mission and vision of the Fondazione Riccardo Catella: placing sustainability at the center of urban spaces, creating a green ecosystem where the whole community can identify and gather. A new paradigm of cohesion and inclusivity that aims to provide a significant contribution in redesigning the neighborhood and city life of Milan, confirming itself as a pole of attraction and appeal for citizens.”

Kelly Russell Catella, General Director of Fondazione Riccardo Catella

“Today more than ever, there is a need to connect people and create community. And culture, in its various forms, can be a formidable tool for living and interpreting contemporary times, becoming an activator of change capable of inspiring new individual and collective practices for a sustainable future. Therefore, our cultural programming in the park, with over 300 events this year, continues to be open and inclusive, extending its branches to embrace the suburbs, with the aim of stimulating choral dynamics to strengthen social bonds, civic participation, and the joy of being together.”
